About
Greta Kresse (b. 1999, Little Rock, AR) is a plein-air painter based in Fayetteville, AR. She received her BA from Hendrix College and is currently pursuing an MFA at the University of Arkansas. Kresse is the recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (2026) and has attended residencies at Anderson Ranch, New York Studio School, Willow House, and Great Spruce Head Island.
Working primarily in oils, Kresse creates vibrant paintings that explore human connection within the Southern landscape. Drawing inspiration from regional poetry and direct observation, her work investigates themes of isolation, beauty, and love in everyday life. Her body of work “Idling” explores the car as a poetic space where the boundaries between outside and inside are always being reversed and collapsing, blurring the lines of private space and the landscape.
